WHEELS: What is the road surface and how does it impact my skating?

Road Surface, also known as riding surface or contact patch, is the width of the wheel that is touching the ground while rolling. A skinny riding surface is going to slide easier than a wider riding surface because there is more wheel in touch with the ground. A wider riding surface is going to grip the ground better up till the point of sliding. Depending on the shape of the wheel, a wider riding surface may add to the overall wheel width.
